The Ilyushin IL-2 Shturmovik is noted for its rugged construction and role in ground-attack missions during World War II, with production totals exceeding 36,000 units. The type debuted as a single-seater in March 1941, later adopting a two-seat configuration to boost combat capability, and received wing updates in late 1943 that improved its flight traits.
This 1/72 Tamiya kit reproduces the IL-2s broad, sturdy lines at a model length of 162mm and a wingspan of 203mm. The kit includes accurately modelled intake ductwork as well as radiator and oil cooler parts, plus a detailed two-seat cockpit and realistic wheel well shaping.
