This 1/72 scale kit from Tamiya recreates the A6M3 Model 32 with updated parts and realistic surface detailing. It is aimed at hobbyists who want an accurate small scale replica without occupying a lot of display space.
The Model 32 introduced the Sakae 21 engine and modified wings to improve speed and rolling performance, increasing top speed by around 11 km/h while reducing range by approximately 1,000 km due to higher fuel consumption. The type first flew on July 15, 1941 and saw limited operational use, including service with the 2nd Fighter Group in areas such as Rabaul and the Philippines, with a production run near 343 units.
Tamiya equipped this kit with newly designed main wing, fuselage and cowl parts to capture the Model 32 profile. Three decal schemes are included so builders can represent different squadrons or camouflage options at 1/72 scale.
