The Tamiya 61036 kit captures the Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu Type 11, a Japanese floatplane fighter developed by Kawanishi Aircraft under the Imperial Japanese Navy. Although it arrived in 1943, the Kyofu proved a reliable option for sea-based air operations and was nicknamed "Rex" by Allied aircrews.
