The Focke-Wulf Fw190A-3 was produced by Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau under Kurt Tank and served as an important fighter in World War II. Built to partner the Messerschmitt Bf109, it used the reliable BMW 801 radial engine and was valued for its agility and performance during 1941 operations.
Deployed from 1941, the A-3 variant became a tough opponent for Allied aircraft. The BMW 801Dg, rated near 1,700hp, helped the Fw190 achieve competitive speed and climb until later Allied fighters appeared, and its six machine guns gave it substantial short-range firepower.
Tamiya's 1/48 rendition captures key features of the Fw190A-3 with precise moulding and attention to silhouette. The kit presents components that reflect engine detail and weapon layout, making it a rewarding build for those who enjoy accurate WWII models.
