The Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI proved itself as a robust multi-role aircraft during the war. Entering service in September 1940, it was fitted with four 20mm nose cannons plus six 7.7mm machine guns, giving it strong forward firepower.
As the air war shifted, the Beaufighter was converted into a night fighter and fitted with Airborne Interception radar for the Mk.1F role. Later, the Mk.VI featured 1,670hp Hercules VI engines, a rear-facing 7.7mm defensive gun and a revised tailplane to stabilise flight. Over 5,900 units were produced and the type served in theatres from Europe to the Pacific.
Tamiya's 1/48 scale Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI kit presents detailed cockpit and weapons parts that assemble into an authentic-looking model. It is recommended for hobbyists comfortable with glue-required builds and fine painting work to achieve the best results.
