The Tamiya 61071 1/48 scale kit faithfully represents the Fairey Swordfish Mk.I Floatplane, a staple of WWII naval aviation. The model reflects the aircrafts operational role and distinctive biplane form.
The kit recreates the cloth-covered steel frame with visible ribbing across wing and fuselage panels. Rivet detail on the metal cowling is captured to match the prototype.
The floatplane differs from land models by its large pontoon floats fitted with small rudders, which change the overall silhouette. Included stands provide a wheeled option and a float storage mount for varied displays.
An open cockpit shows instrument and radio details with a rear-mounted revolving machine gun. The Bristol Pegasus 3M radial engine is modelled in scale, and the kit supplies a torpedo, bombs and three crew figures for accurate scenes.
