The Nakajima J1N1-Sa earned recognition as a night fighter after being adapted from an earlier design during World War II. It engaged Allied heavy bombers including the B-17 and B-24, and this 1/48 scale kit aims to reflect the aircrafts operational role with accurate external detailing. Tamiya 61093 reproduces the Gekko's lines and panel work for serious modellers.
The conversion to night fighting involved structural and armament changes, and the model reflects those differences. The J1N1-Sa featured single exhaust stacks and an upper fuselage mount of three 20mm cannons, both rendered on the kit. The gun hatch can be modelled open to show interior detail or closed for a clean finish.
Builders will find this 1/48 kit offers a balanced challenge with a detailed cockpit and options for canopy position. Parts are supplied to present the aircraft either with the radar antenna fitted or without, so you can customise the final look for shelf display.
