The Tamiya 69928 Centipede Robot is a practical STEM model with a translucent orange body that highlights its internal drive. It is well suited to model fans and educators wanting a working demonstration of linked leg movement.
The assembled model spans about 400mm by 92mm by 40mm. It sports nine paired fluorescent orange legs that generate the flowing gait. Included are a head section, multiple body plates, a compact gearbox and a battery box, all arranged to emulate a centipede's coordinated steps.
This kit moves at roughly one metre for every 15 seconds and will alter course around obstructions. The bottom profile helps it find alternate paths when it cannot surmount barriers, making the behaviour engaging to observe.
Drive is provided by a Type 130 motor and the gear interfaces match Tamiya Mini 4WD items, enabling Grade-Up part swaps. This opens options for performance tuning or experimenting with different motor and gear combinations.
