The snail's friction unit is encased in transparent plastic so you can observe the gears turning and how the drive translates into the snail's rhythmic wag and nod. Swapping the crank base orientation changes the action and encourages hands-on tweaking.

Design for learning and durability

Constructed from two PP sheets that form a lightweight shell, the kit also features antennae to nudge the snail away from small obstacles and a clutch to protect gearing from shocks.
