As a representative of the Scharnhorst class, the Gneisenau was launched in 1938 and is notable for its mix of speed and offensive power. Official records list a displacement near 26,000 tons, though standard displacement measurements place it closer to 31,800 tons, underscoring its size.
The ship carried nine 28 cm main guns along with twelve 15 cm secondary guns and a host of anti-aircraft weapons. With strong armour and top speeds approaching 32 knots, Gneisenau combined protection with mobility. This Tamiya kit recreates the vessel in 1/700 scale using injection-moulded plastic parts designed for neat assembly and realistic display.
