Tamiya 84238 Sumo Power Shell for Faster On-Track Agility

The Tamiya 84238 Nissan GT-R Sumo Power body set is a lightweight upgrade tailored to 1/10 scale touring cars that need quicker steering response. Constructed from .7mm polycarbonate, this shell reduces top weight versus standard 1.0mm bodies to help limit chassis roll and refine handling on medium to high traction surfaces.

Reduced Mass for Sharper Steering

With thinner walls the body promotes faster directional changes and more precise steering inputs, which is useful in close racing. Note that the thinner material sacrifices some impact durability, so take care during collisions.

Best Use Cases and Chassis Options

This body excels on high speed or high grip tracks where steering precision counts. It is compatible with a broad range of Tamiya touring car chassis, letting you experiment with setup changes to suit your driving style.

Try a slightly firmer front anti-roll tuning or adjust spring rates to balance the quicker steering response without making the car too twitchy.
It can be used, but expect higher risk of damage in contact situations; for contact-heavy classes consider a thicker body or extra protection at impact zones.
Use light, even coats of polycarbonate-specific paint and avoid heavy masking layers to keep added weight to a minimum.
Reducing top weight can lower the effective mass and slightly influence roll characteristics, but major CG changes depend more on component placement than the body alone.
