Tamiya TS-13 Clear spray provides a straightforward clear coat option for hobbyists finishing model kits. This synthetic acrylic lacquer is made to dry quickly so work can continue without long delays. With a 100ml capacity, each can typically covers two to three 1/24 scale car bodies, making it a cost-effective choice for regular modelling work.

Suitable Surfaces and Application Notes

The TS-13 Clear is compatible with underlying layers painted in either acrylic or enamel, offering a protective finish that does not harm previous coats. It is formulated for plastic model kits and should not be used on polycarbonate RC bodies. Clean and degrease parts before spraying for the best adhesion and finish.

Is this safe for polycarbonate RC shells?

No. TS-13 Clear is designed for plastic model kits and may not bond correctly to polycarbonate. Use a polycarbonate-specific product for lexan bodies.

How long before pieces can be handled?

The lacquer dries quickly to the touch, but allow additional cure time before heavy handling or polishing. Dry times vary with temperature and humidity.

Any spraying tips for beginners?

Start with thin, even passes from about 20-30 cm, rotate the part for uniform coverage, and build up 2-4 light coats. Work in a well ventilated area and use a respirator when spraying.
