Tamiya TS-40 85040 Metallic Black in a ready-to-spray can

This Tamiya TS-40 aerosol puts down a metallic black lacquer that dries quickly and lays down a consistent finish on plastic model kit bodies. The synthetic acrylic formula is aimed at full-shell coverage, with an expected yield of two to three 1/24 scale car bodies per 100ml can.

Using TS-40 with other paint systems

TS-40 is suitable to apply over cured acrylics or enamels without obvious chemical reaction, provided the underlying coats are fully dry. Always trial on a spare panel, and keep coats light to retain the metallic highlighting effect.

Is this product suitable for flexible polycarbonate shells?

No. TS series lacquer paints are not designed for flexible polycarbonate. For RC polycarbonate bodies use paints specifically formulated to remain flexible and adhere to that material.

How much area will a 100ml can cover?

Expect to cover roughly two to three 1/24 scale plastic car bodies with a single 100ml can, depending on spray technique and number of coats.

Can I use this through an airbrush?

No. This product is an aerosol spray and is not formulated for airbrush use. If you need airbrush application, seek Tamiya paints specifically thinned for airbrushing or use an appropriate reducer per manufacturer guidance.
