Hobbyists prepping bodies and parts will find the Tamiya 87231 cloth useful for smoothing paint and shaping edges while following contours on RC shells and scale models.
Although optimised for plastic model bodies, this sanding cloth also handles light metal and timber repairs, offering a versatile tool for general modelling tasks.
At 170 x 130 mm, the sheets are large enough for most jobs. The series spans five grits from #600 up to #3000, each with a distinct colour. The #600 sky blue is for the first smoothing pass.
The cloth reduces the chance of pronounced fold lines that can gouge paint, helping maintain an even surface before you move to finer abrasives.
Use it dry to remove material quickly or wet to get a cleaner finish and reduce dust. The cloth handles both methods reliably.
