Achieve a Clean Finish with Tamiya 87235 Sanding Cloth #3000

Tamiya 87235 Sanding Cloth #3000 is built for fine finishing on model kits where subtle correction and smoothing are needed. The cloth adapts to rounded panels and complex shapes, making it useful for body shells and delicate trim. Its superfine abrasive lets you refine paintwork with minimal risk of cutting through the topcoat.

Works on Multiple Model Materials

This sanding cloth is suitable for plastic, light metal components and small wooden parts. That versatility makes it useful when you are switching between different materials on the same build.

Durable Cloth for Wet or Dry Use

Designed to be effective both dry and wet, the cloth reduces dust and heat build-up during wet sanding. Its low tendency to form deep fold lines helps preserve the abrasive surface and lowers the chance of creating scratches on finishes.

Selectable Grits to Match Your Workflow

Tamiya offers a set of grits to pair with the #3000 cloth so you can work through rough to fine stages. The series from #600 to #2000 uses colour coding to speed up grit selection during multi-step finishing.

Yes. The cloth is made to withstand multiple wet sanding uses, though heavy contamination or clogged abrasive will reduce life expectancy.
Use gentle pressure, keep the cloth flat, and frequently check progress. Switch to finer grits as soon as the surface evens out to minimise material removal.
Exercise care around decals. The #3000 grit is very fine but can still abrade thin printed surfaces. Mask or avoid sanding directly over decals where possible.
Start with a coarser grit to remove defects, then move through intermediate grits, finishing with #3000 to erase micro-scratches before polishing or clear coating.
