The British Armored Car Staghound Mk.I proved its worth across several theatres. Originating as the Ford T17E1 4X4 in the United States, it used a pair of Chevrolet 270 engines and carried a 37mm turret gun plus three machine guns. The US Army ultimately chose the lighter M8 Greyhound, but British and Commonwealth units deployed the Staghound in Italy from 1943 through the end of the war, and it saw continued use postwar in areas like the Middle East and Central America.
This Tamiya 1/35 scale kit captures the Staghound Mk.Is distinct angular hull and practical fittings. Builders will appreciate the detailed leaf spring suspension and the option to pose side and turret hatches open to show interior touches such as the turret basket and radio set. The model also includes accessories like canvas rolls, jerry cans and a roof-mounted machine gun for extra realism.
Fine photo-etched parts are provided to improve small-scale detail, and five marking variants offer period accuracy choices. Three British figures are supplied so you can stage a quick vignette right away. This kit makes a strong display subject for enthusiasts who enjoy careful assembly and weathering.
