The Tamiya 89975 Mechanical Blowfish showcases a crank and linkage system inside a clear pink casing so builders can follow the mechanics as the tail swings. It is part of the Robocraft series and designed to illustrate motion transfer and basic hydrodynamic behaviour.
This model gives a hands-on lesson in mechanics and how bodies interact with water. Construction is mainly snap-fit with some screws and rubber tubing seals, making it suitable for hobbyists new to kits. The see-through shell enhances learning by letting you view internal motion as the model runs.
Once built, the Mechanical Blowfish functions both as a swimming model and a display piece. The waterproofing system uses O-rings and waterproof tape to protect the internals. A Type 130 motor is already connected to streamline assembly, and the kit runs from a single AA battery for extended sessions.
