Tuning effects of the Tamiya 92450 HG 3mm stay

This HG Carbon Multi Roller Setting Stay is a limited Waigo Hobby release formed from a 3mm silver carbon fiber plate in a single-piece layout. The greater thickness provides higher section rigidity than typical 1.5mm plates and offers an alternative to stacking plates for extra stiffness, while the silver look and purple marking distinguish this edition from common black carbon parts.

From a setup perspective, the single-piece 3mm construction changes the stiffness profile of the front or rear roller assembly where fitted. That altered stiffness can influence cornering behavior and weight transfer, so trial runs and incremental adjustments to roller positions and spacer stacks are advised to dial handling.

The part is produced as a limited commemorative item by Waigo Hobby. As with all tuning components, test fit and performance on your chosen Mini 4WD chassis prior to use in competitive runs, and retain stock parts if required by event regulations.

Increased rigidity at the roller mounting points tends to reduce unwanted flex, which can sharpen turn-in and improve repeatability. Expect to reassess roller locations and spacer stacks to optimize the new stiffness profile.
Because the plate is thicker, some assemblies may need slightly longer screws or shims. Perform a dry assembly to check for proper thread engagement and roller clearance before final tightening.
The silver coating is aesthetic and does not materially alter mass compared with other carbon stays of similar thickness. Any change in balance is driven mainly by the 3mm thickness and its mounting location on the chassis.
A single-piece 3mm plate raises stiffness while keeping mass efficient compared with some multi-plate approaches, offering a way to reduce flex without substantial weight penalty.
Treat it like any other stiffening upgrade: make incremental changes to roller placement and spacers, log lap times, and revert if handling moves away from your target characteristics.
The edition is limited and marked by the silver finish and purple lettering. Plan upgrades around availability and consider keeping a spare stock stay for events with strict part rules.
