HG Wide Carbon Front Sliding Damper 2mm - Product brief

The Tamiya 95641 HG Wide Carbon Stay Front Sliding Damper was launched to mark the Mini 4WD 40th Anniversary and is aimed at racers wanting a lighter front stay. The carbon construction reduces weight while keeping the strength needed for frequent track running.

Design notes and features

This 2mm carbon fibre stay sports an orange Mini 4WD 40th Anniversary logo and acts as an upgrade over the aluminium stay in Item 15469, cutting roughly 40 percent of the front stay weight to aid quicker responses on the circuit.

Mounting and chassis compatibility

The stay suits MA, FM-A and AR chassis that are set up with Item 15469 and includes screws, nuts and washers for assembly. It offers mounts for 9, 13, 17 and 19mm rollers. Some chassis or body shells may need slight trimming to achieve a perfect fit.

Effect on handling and speed

Reducing front mass improves initial acceleration and sharpens steering feel, useful during competitive runs. The loader of roller positions lets teams fine tune corner stability and straight-line performance for different track formats.

You will need the parts associated with Item 15469 for the sliding damper function; the stay itself includes the basic fasteners for mounting.
Compared with the aluminium stay referenced in Item 15469, the carbon option reduces weight by approximately 40 percent, improving acceleration and handling.
The stay supports mounting for 9, 13, 17 and 19mm rollers, giving flexibility to tune clearance and cornering behaviour.
In some car builds a small amount of trimming to the chassis or body shell may be required to avoid interference with larger rollers or the stay itself.
The printed anniversary mark is robust, but using clear tape or a thin protective coating will help keep the finish looking good after frequent use.
