Preassembled 52T steel differential details

This complete rear differential comes assembled for use in selected TAMIYA 1/10 platforms. The BBX52S is intended as a replacement for the BBX BB-01 factory rear differential (part number 54471), converting the original ball-type mechanism into a steel bevel-gear unit manufactured from 40Cr steel with 52 teeth. The assembly is supplied ready to fit and includes slim stainless washers to adjust bearing clearance.

Fitting guidance: remove the two foam spacers when fitting to BBX models; XV01 installs without modification. Note that differential oil is not supplied and must be added during assembly. For setups requiring the same unit at both ends, buy two sets.

Setup tips: use the included 10x12x0.3mm stainless washers to dial in bearing preload, and secure fasteners with medium-strength threadlocker to prevent loosening while running. No additional machining is necessary beyond standard gearbox access for the listed chassis.

The BBX52S provides a practical, bolt-in steel gear upgrade for compatible TAMIYA 1/10 models, delivering greater gear strength where required; observe the model-specific notes when installing.

Switching from a ball-type to a steel bevel differential may alter traction and locking characteristics; tune diff oil viscosity to regain the handling balance you prefer.
Use the supplied 10x12x0.3mm stainless washers to remove excess play at the bearings, adding or removing them until the desired preload is achieved.
Yes. The unit ships dry so you can select diff grease or oil viscosity to tailor on-track behavior; experiment to find the best setting for your chassis and surface.
Verify bearing clearance, secure all fasteners with medium-strength threadlocker, and confirm smooth gear mesh before road-testing.
