Overview of the Jr Tyxiv ME Chassis (Tamiya 18664)

The Jr Tyxiv is a compact body concept produced with an external design partner and delivered as a 1/32 Mini 4WD assembly kit on the ME chassis. The low, aerodynamic shell is offered with either a tinted canopy or a removable open-top cockpit; removing the canopy allows for a driver figure or an open-top presentation. Switchable front and rear fender sections let you run the standard small-diameter tyres or install separately sold large-diameter tyres after swapping parts.

The ME chassis was developed as a "Midship Evolution" concept and retains the double-shaft motor arrangement seen in earlier Tamiya double-shaft designs. It uses an ABS-molded construction aimed at a balance of rigidity and controlled flex while keeping weight modest. Bumpers are separate molded components and the kit assembles using standard Mini 4WD techniques; low-friction 620 POM plastic bearings are fitted where called for to improve rolling efficiency.

Cosmetic parts include fluorescent green and transparent smoke pieces, silver 5-spoke wheels fitted with the kit small-diameter super hard low-profile tyres, and dedicated decal sheets. The kit contains a double-shaft motor and a 3.5:1 gear ratio drivetrain. Two AA batteries are required but are sold separately.

Scale: 1/32

Chassis type: ME chassis

Drive system: 4WD, double-shaft motor layout

Motor included: Double-shaft motor

Gear ratio: 3.5:1

Wheels and tires: Silver 5-spoke wheels with black small-diameter super hard low-profile tires (kit standard)

Bearings: Low-friction POM 620 plastic bearings (black)

Body options: Tinted canopy or removable open-top cockpit

Compatibility note: Changeable front and rear fender parts allow use of separately sold large-diameter tires

Power source: Requires 2 x AA batteries (sold separately)

Dimensions: Length 156mm, Width 97mm, Height 33mm (canopy) / 35mm (open-top)

Material: Chassis and major parts molded in ABS resin

A tuned-for-style kit that makes it easy to change tyre setups and visual options while remaining simple to build and service.

Fitting larger, separately sold tyres is supported by the alternative fender parts. Larger tyres can change handling characteristics, so consider suspension setup and weight distribution when switching wheel sizes.
The double-shaft motor and 3.5:1 gear ratio provide a balance of acceleration and top speed suitable for general Mini 4WD running as supplied from the box.
Yes, the tinted canopy can be removed to show an open cockpit and allow for a driver figure to be installed if you prefer that style.
Low-friction POM 620 plastic bearings reduce friction at selected rotation points, which helps lower drivetrain losses and improves rolling smoothness compared to plain plastic bushings.
No. The kit requires two AA batteries to operate and these must be purchased separately.
