Do these require new ball studs or bearings?

They use the standard TT-02 ball studs and bearings, so in most cases you can re-use your existing hardware unless it is worn.

Are they suitable for off-road use?

The aluminium construction is tougher than stock plastic and holds up well on light off-road surfaces, though severe impacts can still damage any knuckle arm.
