Gold replacement springs for TRAXXAS MAXX

Set of 2 gold spare springs intended for RC-scale Traxxas MAXX front and rear dampers, used to alter preload and shock stiffness to suit different surfaces and driving styles. Produced by GPM (TXMSF/R/SPGD).

Measurements and construction: spring steel construction with an overall length of 85mm, outer diameter 27.2mm and inner diameter 23mm. The coil pitch generates a coil length of 2.1mm, 0.3mm thicker than the stock spring, and the gold coating provides easy visual identification on the shock assembly.

Installation tips: remove the damper assembly to swap springs, then reassemble. Adjust the shock top cap to vary preload and the effective spring rate, helping you tune ride height and compression response for different track surfaces.

Compatibility: designed for Traxxas original dampers and GPM Racing dampers; confirm shock body and seat dimensions before fitting.

Packing includes

Original Name / Part No:

8966 (Front) / 8967 (Rear)

Compatible Models

  • Traxxas original dampers
  • GPM Racing dampers
The coil length is 2.1mm, making it 0.3mm thicker than the original spring, which affects the effective spring rate and tuning range.
The finish provides a visual contrast but like any coated spring it may wear over time; performance is determined by the spring steel core rather than the surface colour.
Increase preload slightly and test damping to prevent bottoming on rough sections; small changes to preload combined with damper damping adjustments yield the best results.
