Low-CG aluminium gear adapter designed for Slash 4X4

This aluminium adapter upgrade pairs a low centre aluminium mount with hardened steel 32-pitch gears, supplied as a 56T spur and a 20T motor pinion. It is offered as an aftermarket drop-in option for TRAXXAS SLASH 4X4 models that use the 68086-21 layout.

Construction uses aluminium for the adapter and hardened steel for the spur and motor pinion, all keeping a 32 pitch tooth profile. Hardened steel gears deliver reliable tooth contact under load while the reduced adapter height helps lower the drivetrain profile toward the chassis centreline.

Ratios: the kit fixes a 56T spur and accepts a range of pinions. With the included 20T pinion the final ratio is 56/20 = 1:2.800. Common alternative pinions and ratios include: 13T=1:4.307, 14T=1:4.000, 15T=1:3.733, 16T=1:3.500, 17T=1:3.294, 18T=1:3.111, 19T=1:2.947.

Installation: the adapter conforms to 32 pitch tooth geometry and standard mounting locations for the specified Slash 4X4 version. Confirm motor mesh, set correct backlash, secure the pinion with its original fastener, and verify spur alignment to prevent premature wear.

Tuning note: swapping pinion sizes on the 56T spur changes acceleration versus top speed; the supplied 20T pinion is balanced toward higher top speed while keeping motor load in check on typical brushed and brushless setups.
