Stiffened CVD assembly for high-speed runs

This aftermarket replacement CVD set is aimed at Traxxas Xmaxx 8S owners who need stronger driveline hardware for high-speed or high-torque use. Main drive components are made from hardened steel #45 and joint geometry has been adjusted to resist flex and chatter.

Stock dogbone-style items are substituted with thicker hardened-steel pieces, increasing shaft diameter from 5.5mm to 7mm as supplied, and the CVD-to-hex interface is reworked to use a stainless steel pin through a perforated joint instead of the factory fastening method. These changes reduce runout and increase hex retention during heavy throttle.

Fitting advice: the kit contains alloy hex adapters and requires common drivetrain disassembly to swap front or rear CVDs. Check hub alignment and bearing play after installation to avoid undue wear. This is an aftermarket upgrade intended for hobby RC use only.

Packing includes

  • Hex Adapter - 4pcs
  • Stainless Steel Screw Shaft M5x4x20 - 4pcs
  • Set Screws 5x5 - 4pcs

Compatible Models

  • Traxxas Xmaxx 8S

For Traxxas Xmaxx 8S vehicles needing a hardened-steel driveline upgrade, the GPM TXM8170N/2 set improves hex security and driveline stiffness; perform standard checks after installation.

Yes, the supplied dogbone diameter increases from 5.5mm to 7mm to better handle high rotational speeds and torque.
The CVD-to-hex interface uses a stainless steel pin through a perforated joint instead of the original fastening method to help prevent hex slippage at speed.
You should inspect bearings and hub fit during installation; keeping tolerances tight will avoid accelerated wear but bearings are not automatically replaced by this kit.
A basic RC tool kit with hex drivers, pliers and torque awareness is enough; ensure set screws are torqued correctly and the stainless pin is seated securely.
