The Vickers Wellington GR Mk XIV served as an effective anti-submarine platform in WWII, equipped with ASV Mk III radar and the Leigh Light to improve night patrol effectiveness. Many examples had the nose turret removed to house the radar, with some crews marking a turret outline for appearance. The Hercules engine, rated at 1,735 hp, gave the aircraft the endurance required for coastal sorties.
Trumpeter's 1:72 scale kit recreates the Wellington GR Mk XIV for dedicated modellers. Key dimensions of the original are represented at scale, with the 86.2 ft wingspan and 64.6 ft length accurately translated and the kit including 205 plastic pieces to assemble a detailed replica.
The build suits modellers who enjoy medium-difficulty kits, as the number of small components requires patience and precision. The chin radome for the ASV MK III radar is modelled to reflect maritime fitments, boosting realism on display stands. The included decals cover both No. 304 Squadron and No. 458 Squadron finishes.
