Trumpeter 1/350 USS Arleigh Burke DDG-51 Kit Introduction

The USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) represents a major advancement in modern destroyer architecture and carries the name of Admiral Arleigh Albert Burke. As the lead ship of its class it established new operational and design benchmarks. Construction started in 1988, she was launched in 1989 and commissioned in 1991 with advanced propulsion and weapon suites.

Modeling Fidelity and Showcase Potential

Trumpeter's 1/350 scale kit recreates the destroyers structural lines and deck fixtures with high fidelity. The finished model stretches to roughly 439mm, and the comprehensive parts count makes this a satisfying build for modellers focused on display accuracy.

The full-size Arleigh Burke displaces about 8,885 tons and exceeds 30 knots propelled by four LM2500-30 gas turbines. The kit reflects operational fittings including Mk 41 vertical launch systems and the Phalanx CIWS to represent the ship's combat layout.

Adding photo-etch parts, rigging thread and subtle washes will increase realism. Plan upgrades before gluing to ensure compatibility with the kit parts.
