The Trumpeter 05716 set re-creates the USS Lexington CV-2 as she looked in May 1942, aimed at experienced scale ship modellers. The kit blends accuracy in hull lines with a high parts count for a detailed assembly.
The Lexington, originally CC-1, saw notable service in early Pacific operations and was lost at the Battle of the Coral Sea. This model presents the carrier in her 1942 configuration for display or diorama use.
At 1/700 scale the finished model measures 387 mm long by 54 mm wide and contains 519 plastic parts. The kit includes several sprues, separate lower and upper hull pieces, decks, a waterline plate and a display stand, and it comes with decals for the 1942 MS 11 scheme.
