This kit is a 1:700 scale plastic model of the US Navy destroyer USS The Sullivans (DD-537), reproduced as a display-ready interpretation of a World War II Fletcher-class destroyer.

The historical ship was launched in April 1943 and commissioned in September 1943. Renamed in February 1943 to honour five brothers lost on the cruiser Juneau, she undertook Pacific operations including plane guard, shore bombardment and radar picket duties during the Okinawa campaign. Decommissioned after the Second World War, she returned to service for the Korean War and was finally retired in 1965, with nine World War II battle stars and two Korean War stars recorded.
