Durability-Focused 31T Pinion Details

The Yokomo YOKPG6431 is a 31T, 64-pitch pinion intended as a motor pinion replacement in RC models. The ultra-hard designation refers to a hardened surface finish meant to extend component life while keeping accurate tooth profiles for reliable mesh.

Install with a matching 64-pitch spur gear and confirm correct tooth count, bore diameter and shaft fit prior to assembly. Do not force the part into place; correct seating and alignment reduce wear and enhance longevity.

Assembly advice: fit the pinion square to the motor shaft, secure using the original set screw or keyed retainer, and set gear mesh via a thin paper or feeler gauge to prevent binding. After initial runs, recheck fastener tightness and ensure free rotation.

Role in tuning: changing the pinion tooth count modifies final drive ratio and the motor load. A 31T pinion changes RPM relative to the spur gear used; make incremental adjustments to dial in acceleration or top speed while watching motor temperatures and drivetrain noise levels.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
The ultra-hard finish increases surface hardness to help resist wear under typical drivetrain loads, preserving tooth form and reducing the rate of wear.
Measure the bore diameter and compare to your motor shaft, or trial-fit without forcing. The pinion should slide on with light pressure and sit squarely on the shaft.
Compatibility depends on bore size and shaft type; check that the 64-pitch tooth spacing and bore match the older gearbox before installing.
