Can I use them on both front and rear shocks?

The pair included is suitable for installation on either the front or the rear. For full vehicle coverage buy two sets to replace all four caps.

Will the vent hole affect oil retention?

The small vent hole is intentional to allow excess oil out during assembly and to assist zero rebound function, while the membrane and internal ridges maintain proper sealing in normal use.
