Durable aluminium gearbox cover for D-MAX

The SD-302DGC main gear cover by Yokomo is a sturdy aluminium replacement intended for the D-MAX platform. Included as standard on the D-MAX Special option, the cover's metal construction works with the motor mount to transfer heat away from the motor zone, aiding cooling under prolonged use.

Fitting is designed to be direct on D-MAX-compatible chassis, with the cover locating over the main gear and using existing mounting bosses so no chassis alteration is expected. It also contributes to more consistent thermal behaviour in longer runs, which can reduce wear associated with heat cycles.

Aside from its cooling role, the cover cleans up the gearbox area visually and is marketed as an RC accessory only, not for any real vehicle application.

How robust is the SD-302DGC in club use?

Constructed from aluminium, the cover resists everyday knocks and helps keep debris out of the gear area, but it is not meant as a heavy-impact protector.

Does it need any special upkeep?

Periodic checks for tightness and cleaning of mating surfaces are recommended; aluminium can be wiped clean and rebuffed if scuffed.

Will it protect gears from stones and grit?

The cover helps reduce ingress of small debris but is not a substitute for sealed gearboxes; larger impacts may still transmit force through the chassis.
