Tuning Differential Response with Dot 6

The Yokomo YOKCSDOT6 is a silicone gear differential oil graded Dot 6 for RC-scale gear differentials. It adjusts low-speed shear and internal slip characteristics so drivers can refine traction, cornering feel, and throttle response without replacing mechanical parts.

When used in setup the oil replaces the differential's internal fluid to govern how quickly torque shifts between the output shafts. Compared with lighter oils Dot 6 gives a firmer internal feel that can limit inside-wheel spin and change how the vehicle rotates entering and exiting corners.

Service tips: follow normal differential servicing steps when changing oil, clean the housing thoroughly, and refill to the same level as before. Test on short runs, make incremental adjustments, and document each setting to ensure repeatable tuning. For RC-scale applications only.

Will Dot 6 reduce inside-wheel spin?

Because Dot 6 increases internal resistance versus lighter grades, it can curb rapid slip on the driven wheel and help reduce inside-wheel spin under acceleration when compared to lower viscosity oils.

What sequence should I follow when swapping the oil?

Drain the old oil, inspect and clean the diff housing, then refill with Dot 6 to the same level. Reassemble and run short test laps, adjusting other setup items only after assessing the diff change.

Is this product suitable for road and off-road electric models?

The oil is designed for gear-type differentials in electric scale RC cars. Its effect will depend on vehicle layout and driving surface, so test and tune accordingly.
