Race-Oriented Layout of the Yokomo R12

The Yokomo R12 is aimed at hobbyists who enjoy tuning and track work. Its 1/12 scale pan car format prioritises adjustability and predictable behaviour on a variety of circuits.

Built for Consistent Performance

The 2.5mm carbon chassis supports compact 1S LiPo packs and is engineered to deliver consistent flex characteristics. Full ball bearings and a high precision ball diff keep drivetrain losses minimal for steady lap times.

Balanced Suspension Design

Front double-wishbone suspension with oil dampers provides controlled steering feedback, while the anti-roll bar helps dial in roll stiffness. The rear link arrangement with oil dampers maintains traction during acceleration and cornering.

Fine Tuning Options

Adjustable rear ride height, lightweight diff rings, and the long carbon rear shaft let you tailor handling to surface grip and driving style. Center offset lightweight wheels aid in achieving desired balance and grip levels.

Assembled by You

The kit is sold without body, tyres, motor, ESC, radio, servo, or battery so builders can configure the car to match class limits and personal preferences.

Do I need special tools to build the kit?

Basic RC tools like hex drivers, thread lock, a diff tool and calipers are useful. A setup board and tyre truer are helpful if you plan to race regularly.

What setup changes help with understeer?

Try reducing rear ride height slightly, soften rear damper oil or increase front toe-in. Small changes to diff preload can also impact front bite.

Are rubber tyres or foam better for this chassis?

Choice depends on surface. Foam tyres are common indoors and on smooth asphalt, while rubber compounds may work better on lower grip or outdoor tracks.

Can I race this in local 1/12 classes?

Yes, provided you outfit the car with electronics and tyres that meet your club rules. Check local regulations on motor size and battery limits before racing.
