Installation and tuning tips

The Yokomo YOKRP-080 Linear Ultra Shock Spring 3.0 is an RC suspension spring made for shock assemblies that call for linear behavior. The 3.0 label identifies the spring rate used by the manufacturer and it is appropriate for touring and pan car hobby setups that require consistent spring action.

This spring is chosen when predictable compression and rebound are needed without a progressive rise in stiffness. That consistency lets you isolate the effects of damper oil, piston size, and preload changes because the spring rate does not change through travel.

To fit the spring, remove the shock cap and shaft assembly, slide off the original spring, then install the new spring onto the shock shaft and spring retainer. Make sure spring seats and retainers are clear of dirt and confirm preload and symmetry left to right after installation.

Tuning notes: changing springs is one of the main ways to influence chassis balance and roll. A stiffer linear spring increases resistance through the stroke, reducing roll and supporting mid-corner grip, while a softer linear spring improves compliance and traction on lower-grip tracks. Use small preload adjustments alongside spring swaps to set ride height and initial response before modifying damper valving.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
A 3.0 linear spring raises mid-stroke resistance compared to a softer rate, reducing body roll and adding mid-corner support while keeping response predictable.
Yes. Adjust preload in small increments to reach the desired ride height and initial response, since spring free length and installed height affect chassis attitude.
Spring rate works with damper valving. When you change to a stiffer or softer spring, you may need to adjust oil weight or piston size to retain the intended damping feel.
