Low-centre main chassis for sharper handling on YR-X12

This aluminum main chassis serves as an aftermarket replacement mainplate for the YR-X12 1/12 competition platform. It is produced to the specified duralumin grade and aims to alter stiffness and lower mass without affecting the car's suspension layout or electronics.

The chassis is a 2.0mm thick 70-75 duralumin plate. The reduced profile supports small-diameter tyre fits and relocates weight lower in the assembly, which helps curb roll and reduces the tendency to high-side on carpet surfaces.

Machining has been applied to preserve load paths while tuning roll and pitch response. The practical effect is a calmer steering feel at the limit and a more stable base for tyre and damper tuning.

Install as a direct-fit replacement to YR-X12 mounting points; verify fastener positions and clearances before final tightening. Apply this modification as part of gradual setup updates rather than as a single comprehensive change.

As a targeted tuning component, this plate is designed to stabilise turn-in and reduce sudden steering spikes on high-grip carpet; combine it with suspension and tyre tweaks to reach the handling you want.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
By lowering mass and stiffening the centre section, the chassis tends to reduce oversteer at the limit and deliver a more controlled front-end response.
Many drivers pair the thinner plate with smaller-diameter carpet tyres to take full advantage of the lowered centre of gravity; test different tyre profiles to find the best match.
The plate increases central stiffness while allowing controlled roll characteristics; you may need to tweak anti-roll bars or shock rates to rebalance.
Fit the chassis, confirm clearances, then make small incremental changes to tyre pressure and damper settings while logging lap times to evaluate gains.
