How it functions

This RC-scale cap and end adaptor is intended for use with the YR-X12 pitching damper assembly, serving as either a replacement cap or an adaptor that determines the damper's top mount and end position within the chassis structure.

As a direct-fit choice for YR-X12-specified dampers, installers should check thread engagement and seating before completing the rebuild. Standard installation steps include shock disassembly, seating the cap on the damper, and confirming piston and spacer movement is unobstructed through the travel range.

From a setup viewpoint, the cap/end adaptor alters end geometry and effective mounting height, which in turn changes how the pitching damper interacts with pitch control. Fit this part when changing end attachments, switching damper types, or fine-tuning linkage geometry for the pitch characteristic you want.

Installation notes

  • Disassemble the shock unit to remove the original cap, then replace with the YX-40C cap/adaptor and ensure threads are properly engaged.
  • Operate the shock through full travel after reassembly to detect any binding at the new end location.
  • When the end geometry is modified, re-check damper stroke and adjust spring preload as required by your chassis setup.
Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
It is made for YR-X12 pitching dampers; fitting to other designs may work if dimensions match, but confirm thread size and seating before final assembly.
Not always, but because the cap changes mounting geometry, expect to revisit valving and spring setup to maintain the intended pitch response.
Check for smooth travel, correct thread engagement, and that the new end position does not contact adjacent chassis parts during full compression.
